New Patient Orientation
During your treatment at the Center, you may wish to connect with others who are going through proton therapy or have completed treatment.
We offer a meeting at the Center for patients, who are one or two weeks into treatment, to explain the various patient services available to you and your family. We will also invite the Chicago Proton Center employees from departments that you might not have had a chance to interact with, like our Physics and Dosimetry team, to share with you how they are involved in your treatment. It is also a great opportunity for you to meet other patients who are starting treatment at the Chicago Proton Center.
Cancer is never easy. For patients and family members who are feeling overwhelmed or for those who just want to talk, social workers are available to help you and your loved ones deal with the emotions and stress that can accompany a cancer diagnosis.
Bring Your Loved Ones
We know how important it can be to have the presence and support of those close to you. We encourage you to bring family and loved ones with you to the Center if you can. We offer many special services to make visitors feel at home: access to computers, free Wi-Fi, beverage bar and children’s play table.
